Ben Dammer’s illustrations are partly digital, partly traditionally drawn children’s books, covers, advertisings, lightpaintings, wallpaintings and more. Whether old book pages, wood, waste, tin boxes or furniture – everything that already has a structure to it is interesting for him as a base for paintings that become the stage for often times deformed figures, weird dudes and dark characters who often are entangled in absurd situations.

Born in the year of the Fall of the Wall, I enjoyed the freedom of Berlin’s 90ies years. The city became a playground. We built traps and tree houses close to the railway line, climbed on top of the roofs and explored backyards and ruins, that built the base for all the adventures. Equipped with spray cans, skate boards or cameras, we dashed around the city. Focus: Guerilla art, typofitty, autonomous design.

Every electronical machine emits electromagnetic radiation that can with the help of a copper coil create sounds that resemble those of insects. I couldn’t resist to free these "current insects" from their boxes of machines and transfer their sounds into a little cage so one can listen to them.
Work title: The numerous insects in my room (2015, sound installation)
Born 1990 in Cologne. Drawing is the opposite of pondering. Because mostly it at least leads somewhere. So sometimes the thoughts take a shape and mostly they form a different from what one thought they would. Sometimes one thought badly, sometimes one just drew badly. But it is good as long as one can laugh about it in the end and does not ponder anymore.

The programmer and designer interweaves in her photographic works analog and digital materials and workflows. Dream pictures and coincidental finds in the details of photographic scraps fall into place like pieces of a puzzle, forming ever new evidences of a parallel world that can be adumbrated through the glass of the picture frames at the exhibition hall walls.
Her pictures’ motifs are evocative of fragments of science fiction films or computer games. Her complexion is always restricted to just a few colours and filled with creatures that threateningly and gloomily stare at the beholder. This impression volatilises after a while and the oh so mean villains appear to be scared and even in need of protection.
