Team

Sascha Düx

Sascha manages the non-profit organisation ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne (RRCGN), that is the host of the 24Hz festival, together with Janna. He has a degree in pedagogics, plays guitar in the band Calling Linus, he occasionally prepares food for 50 hungry mouths, and he furthermore is member of the ROOTS & ROUTES International Association board (which is the umbrella organisation of all of the R&R-member organisations). When not resting his head on the keyboard, he wildly chips his fingers onto them, after all he is: "Computerfreak".

Concerning the 24Hz festival, Sascha is one of the persons working in the background, but in fact one of those, that helped make it happen in the first place. Starting with developing the vision of the festival, he was part of writing proposals, calculating the budget, and arranging the venues, technical devices and events – all of these things are what Sascha is engaged in everyday.

Janna Hadler

Janna has a degree in cultural and educational studies and manages, together with Sascha, the RRCGN association. Janna is prepared for all kinds of situations, has perfectionated the tetris-style when it comes to packing our trucks, and as www.materialfrau.de (often together with her sidekick Gaffaboy) she occasionally makes special requested objects like a "giant diaper" appear out of nowhere.
During the winters she is in charge of directing the evening programs of the Winterfest in Salzburg, where she can usually be found at her favourite spot, the mirror tent.

Concerning the 24Hz festival, Janna takes over all kinds of jobs, such as getting hold of the big fish, finding theaters in Cologne when virtually none is available, shifting and adjusting budgets etc etc...

Sina Schindler

Sina is founding and board member of RRCGN. She has been project manager for big international ROOTS & ROUTES projects, like U-CARE – Urban Culture Against Racism in Europe, Urban Media Summit Cologne 2013 and the ROOTS & ROUTES Experience 2014. She holds a master degree in Media and Cultural Analysis, has been doing research on migration, gender and empowerment topics, and is experienced in international and diversity-conscious youth work.

Concerning the 24Hz festival she not only developed the concept, together with Sascha and Janna, but is also responsible of making the whole world know about it: with press releases, fully postered Cologne and the newest information on the 24Hz Facebook page.

Aileen Wessely

The probability that Aileen is connected to whatever you have seen so far, concerning the 24Hz festival, lies at 99,9 %, as she works as freelance programmer, photographer, designer, and editor at kwerfeldein, and is involved in almost all visual matters connected to ROOTS & ROUTES. Furthermore she is the association's treasurer and has her eye on all financial matters. On Farbanomalie you can see what other things Aileen is concerned with.

Aileen is responsible of the 24Hz design and the main person in charge concerning the 24Hz crowdfunding campaign. She will be in charge of fotodocumenting the festival as well as the prior project phases, and will keep you up-to-date via photographs.

Sasha Kisselkova

Sasha is an artist, photographer, author, and member of the LICHTFAKTOR crew. You can check out her work on her Behance portfolio.

We are very happy to have her curating the exhibition of the 24Hz festival involving Cologne-based and international media artists.

Conny Beißler

Conny is a camerawoman, filmmaker and has been working as a lecturer in the field of film and media at various universities, for instance at Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, Universidad Nacional in Bogota and the Kwetu Film Institute in Kigali/Rwanda. Apart from that, Conny is the technical supervisor of the Internationales Frauenfilmfestivals Dortmund|Köln, and has enriched countless ROOTS & ROUTES projects with her know-how, power and her charms. Long story short: Conny rocks!

Conny is part of the artistic direction and the coach team of the Urban Art and Media Exchange 2015, whose results will be presented at the vernissage on August 25th and at the 24Hz premieres on August 27th.

Heiko Walter

There is nothing that Heiko can't do. He works in industry-electronics, is a media coach, has been working as a freelance media maker since 2001, concentrating on film, organizes creative media projects, works as lecturer at the faculty for philosophical studies of Cologne University in the field of 'storytelling', is a DIY-lover and enriches the project with his experience in peer coaching, film production, and audio dramas.

In the 24Hz festival he joins the team consisting of Conny, Ioannis, and Marcel, and sees his position as „instrument“ and impulse-giver. His dream for the 24Hz festival is to build a human-media-machine, that will please you with its content, challenge you and stir up your conversations, corners, provokes, enthuses you and fills you with sound – all of that right on the spot! We say: that sounds promising!

Ioannis Mihailidis

Ioannis is a Koblenz-Cologne based computervisualist, who first started with visuals in clubs and on small festivals, and who now works at Studio Farbraum on videomapping, motion design, and compositing on a large scale. Furthermore Ioannis is a VJ and DJ in clubs aka “the best DJ on the Nature One“, as you can read on his Facebook page.

Ioannis is part of the artistic direction and coach team for the Urban Art and Media Exchange 2015, whose results will be presented at the vernissage on August 25th and at the 24Hz premieres on August 27th.

Marcel Panne

Marcel is a true globetrotter: from Monte Carlo to India and Nepal – he has lived everywhere. He absolved photography schooling, worked in Cologne theaters as light and audio technician and since 1998 has been on the move as a VJ (amongst others as resident for Basswerk, solo as "VJ Sehvermögen" for Kulturkirche Köln, lit.COLOGNE, Porsche, and for various theater projects and concerts). He founded the artist collective LICHTFAKTOR around ten years ago and has been active with it in the fields of photography, video, liveperformance, building-projection, and media installation ever since.

Marcel has been a part of ROOTS & ROUTES projects for ten years now and naturally must be included in the 24Hz team. He will, together with Conny, Ioannis, and Heiko, support the international media artists in developing their own projects, whose results you will get to see during the festival.

Tim Slobbe

Tim is a video journalist and media coach, both living and working in Cologne and Rotterdam.

At 24Hz festival he will be coaching the artists of Urban Art and Media Exchange with video editing and motivational support.

Konrad Bohley

Konrad is a filmmaker and performer. You can get an idea of his diversity on Vimeo, where you will see a film, in which Konrad was in charge of the script, direction, and edit.

Konrad is the artistic director of the R2E performance, which will be developed specially for the 24Hz festival, and has its premiere on August 25th.

Jimi Renfro

Jimi Renfro was born in Nicaragua, absolved musical and dance training in the USA, and has been involved in anything that has to do with stages of the world: He has been working as solo, as well as backing vocalist, as dancer on broadway, and has been part of ROOTS & ROUTES projects as vocal and performance coach for many years.

Jimi is not only responsible of the vocal fine tuning of the singers, but manages to motivate all the others, on and off stage, to bring in the important details. And by the way: Jimi is the very best at giving warm-ups, which give us the necessary drive to start the day.

Jan Schneider

Jan has studied jazz trumpet and played for the LandesJugendJazzOrchester North Rhine-Westphalia, the Bundesjazz orchestra, and furthermore works as music coach in the fields of trumpet, ensemble work, Jazz/Pop/Experimental. He currently works with the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Tom Gaebel Band, and as lecturer at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, the Offene Jazz Haus Schule and the Institute for Media and Music at the Robert-Schumann University in Dusseldorf.

Jan will be part of the music coaching team for the R2E performance, which will have its premiere during the 24Hz festival.

Young-Jean Maeng

Jean has been part of ROOTS & ROUTES for a long time now and has experienced the international network both as a talent, as well as him being part of the team. He is a digital media designer, filmmaker, film student and also B-Boy at the Nin10do Crew.
